A Dolphin was found stranded on the beach in front of Discovery Mall Kuta, Wednesday (January 27). From external conditions, this dolphin was found with scratches on the body.
According to the Head of the Coastal and Marine Resources Management Center, Permana Yudiarso, ST. MT., from external conditions, found a wound on the right side of the body. This wound, he said, caused parts of the body to be torn, and cause the intestines to come out.
However, his party has not yet dared to confirm whether the dolphin’s death was due to the injury or something else. He said he suspected that this bottlenose dolphin had only died in the middle of the sea for 3-4 days due to the wounds suffered.
Regarding injuries, according to him, it could not be due to fighting with others. He said he thought it might have been scratched by a sharp object, such as a reef or the end of a boat. “Probably scratched by a sharp object such as coral. From the characteristics, only one big wound,” he explained.
The dolphin with a length of 1.8 meters, he said, usually exist in South Bali. It is possible that after dying in the middle of the sea, the poor dolphin was dragged by the waves to Kuta, because currently it is still the western wind season.
“This animal probably died in the middle of the sea due to sharp objects. This dolphin was found early in the morning and immediately buried by cleaners at the Discovery Mall,” he added. (MBP1)
