Bali Governor Wayan Koster said that the reopening of tourism activities for archipelago tourists will begin on Friday (July 31). The second stage of reopening of tourism activity is expected to run well, smoothly and successfully.
Koster said, according to the direction of the President, Bali must dare to conduct activities selectively, limited by implementing health protocols of the new era of life order. For this reason, he hopes that the activities in each ministry can be held in Bali so that, according to Koster, hotels, restaurants, and businesses can reopen again. And also, in the third quarter, the economy will improve.
According to Governor Koster, 56 percent of Bali’s economy was supported by tourism. With the Covid-19 pandemic, Bali tourism is paralyzed which has an impact on the business world. “This certainly complicates the economy of the Balinese community,”
Koster said while attending the declaration of a tourism program in the what so called Bali Era Baru and digitizing tourism based on QRIS, on Peninsula Island, Nusa Dua, Thursday (July 30).
He further said that the third phase, which was planned on September 11 by inviting foreign tourists, could be carried out. For this reason, he hopes that the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regulation No. 11 of 2020 concerning the temporary ban on foreigners from entering Indonesia can be evaluated. If this still applies, of course foreign tourists can not visit the resort island.
His party really hopes that Bali will be given priority to reopen tourism, especially for foreign tourists. If this is not applied, the economy of Bali will be worse off. He also hopes that the reopening agenda for stages 1, 2 and 3 will run well. “Bali will be able to rise, not only to generate tourism in Bali, but also the economy in general,” he said. (MBP1)
