Dragged By Waves When Swimming, A Foreigner Has Not Been Found

Incident of foreigner dragged by waves occurred again. This time a foreigner whose identity is unknown, reportedly was dragged by the waves while swimming in Batu Bolong Beach, Canggu Village, North Kuta, Badung, Friday (July 17).
According to Gede Darmada, S.E., M.AP. as Head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas Bali), his party received a report at 18.55 pm. It is said that the informant on behalf of Nyoman Rizal reported incident of foreigner dragged by waves which happened at around 18:30 Central Indonesia Time.
Following up on the report, the joint SAR team was immediately dispatched to search the victim. Due to the situation in a dark location and it is not possible to conduct searches at sea, the team with lighting tools to search along the shoreline.
“We received a report at 6:55 pm and immediately deployed personnel to the location. Because the situation was already late, the search was continued tomorrow. Yesterday night (Friday), the team coordinated with related agencies and also the local community tried to dig up information, especially the position where the victim drowned,” he said.
Furthermore, he said, the joint SAR team was then sent back to conduct a search on the second day, Saturday (July 18). A total of 13 personnel were deployed to the location since morning. The joint SAR team efforts on the second day involved 4 people combing the land while the sea SRU involved 9 people using 1 unit of rubber boat and 2 units of jet ski. “The sea SRU moved from Patra Beach at 07.30 pm to around the location of the victim’s drowning,” he said.
For the identity of the victim, his party was still digging for information. In fact, he said, on Friday night also coordinated with the hotel where the victim was staying. Until this news is published, the SAR team was still searching because there were no signs of the victim whereabouts. (MBP1)
