According to Bali Governor Wayan Koster, the construction of tourism facilities must be strictly controlled, in accordance with spatial planning. “If allowed, anything can be a concern in the region. And this must really be a joint commitment from all parties, “said Koster accompanied by the Regional Secretary of Bali Province, Dewa Made Indra, when delivering an official statement regarding Local Regulation No. 3 of 2020 concerning amendments to Local Regulation No. 16 of 2009 concerning the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) of the Bali Province in 2009-2029, at the Gajah Building, Bali Governor’s Office, Jaya Sabha, Denpasar, Friday (May 29).

Koster said that in the future, there should not be any hotel construction in the beach area where permits are only for building hotels, but the practice seems to control the beach in front of it. Even to close the Melasti (Hindu ceremony) path used by the locals. “In the future, this may not happen again. It should not marginalize or even turn off the procession related to local wisdom in Bali,” he said.

This was stated in the Local Regulation on Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW) of Bali Province which had received substance approval from the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning / BPN on January 20, 2020, and was facilitated and approved by the Ministry of Home Affairs on May 8, 2020, in response to the Bali Governor’s Letter submitted on January 28, 2020.

With the enactment of this Local Regulation, Bali already has general spatial planning guidelines, then the Regency / City Governments in Bali in order to adjust the RTRW Local Regulation.
