Activities at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport began to increase. Passenger activity started to appear. According to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Communication and Legal Manager, Andanina Megasari, passenger activities began to be seen from July 9-10.

“The number of domestic passengers began to increase. So the number of departing passengers reached 2000 to 2500 people” she explained, Friday (July 17).

The most routes to date served are Jakarta, Surabaya and Makassar. Meanwhile, arrivals are still dominated by passengers from Jakarta. “Airlines that already serve flights include, Garuda Indonesia, Batik, Lion Air, Citilink, Nam Air, Wing Air,” explained Anandina.

Anandina added that due to the dense flight activity, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport continued to apply the health protocol by deploying airport security which was also assisted by personnel from each airline.

Along with the era of adaptation of new habits, Ngurah Rai Airport as the main gate of Bali has implemented a terminal capacity building policy. From the beginning which only functioned to serve 35% of the total capacity, now it has been increased to 50% of the terminal capacity.

According to General Manager of PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Herry A.Y. The airport capacity increase or Notice Airport Capacity (NAC), Herry said, was based on the start of increasing demand for flight slots from airlines. This is also a continuing effect of the increasing need for people to travel by plane. “Therefore, our terminal capacity is increased, of course, based on strengthening the implementation of the health protocol. We appreciate and give the highest appreciation to all personnel from the airport community member agencies involved every day in providing services amid today’s difficulties,” said Herry, Friday (July 17).

Meanwhile, Head of the Regional Airport Authority Office Region IV, Elfi Amir revealed that Bali is a barometer of the adaptation of the new era’s life order. With an increase in the number of flights in Bali, health protocol must be done. Since the enactment of the Bali Provincial Task Force Circular No. 305 In 2020 on July 5, there was a drastic increase in air traffic served by Ngurah Rai Airport.

From the data per 5 July to 15 July 2020, there were a total of 392 aircraft movements and 22,354 passengers served. If averaged, every day there were 35 aircraft movements and 2,032 passengers served.

“This daily average figure is much higher than the time when commercial flight restrictions on domestic routes take effect through the Minister of Transportation Regulation No. PM 25 of 2020, which applies from April 23 to June 7 2020. During that time period, there are only an average of 13 aircraft movements and 387 passengers served every day,” he explained. (MBP1)
