Tourism Minister Wishnutama: Do Not Open The Tourism Sector Carelessly

For several months, the condition of Bali’s tourism has been suspended from the Covid-19 pandemic. To revive tourism in Bali, the government is currently designing a concept to welcome new normal conditions.

In order to welcome the new order of life as a result of Covid-19, Indonesian Minister for Tourism and Creative Economy Affairs Wishnutama Kusubandio reviewed the readiness to welcome a new normal in the field of tourism, on Tuesday (June 16), in the ITDC Nusa Dua area. On this occasion, he was also accompanied by ITDC Managing Director Abdulbar M. Mansoer and The Nusa Dua Managing Director I Gusti Ngurah Ardita along with his staffs.

On this occasion, Minister Wishnutama Kusubandio conveyed that in addition to the discipline of implementing health protocols, in order to welcome new normal, what must be considered is the condition of the Covid-19 case in Bali. Do not open the tourism sector carelessly, because if it is done, of course later it can cause new problems.

In welcoming the new normal, Indonesian Ministry for Tourism and Creative Economy Affairs has required the application of health protocols, especially related to Cleanliness, Health and Safety (CHS). “So, the important thing is to prepare the area first. If it is ready in terms of health, then (tourism) will be opened gradually,” he said.

He further said that for tourism, the initial stage will be opened to local in Bali first. When everything is ready, and after undergoing trials, it will only target domestic tourists. “So, the stages must be clear. Regional readiness is the most important. It’s like the condition of Covid-19 in the regions,” he stressed (MBP1)
