 After Being Chased by A Dog, A British Foreigner Fell Into A 4 Meter High Water Tank

A Foreigner from England, Roberts Jacob Matthew (29) found residents trapped in a water tank owned by resident on Jalan Belimbingsari, Banjar Tambyak, Pecatu, Badung Regency, Saturday morning (June 6). After falling into a water tank as high as approximately 4 meters, the foreigner is suspected to have broken bones.

Following the location of the fall is quite deep, and the victim who suffered a broken bone, of course local residents can not carelessly evacuate. For this reason, Nyoman Budiantara, the Babinkamtibmas Pecatu asked for help from the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office (Basarnas Bali) at 12:30 pm.

Fifteen minutes after receiving the report, Search And Rescue Team personnel arrived at the location and made preparations for the evacuation. According to Gede Darmada, S.E., M.AP., the Head of the Bali Basarnas Office, for the evacuation process during the Covid-19 pandemic, the team must use the complete PPE, especially for personnel who have direct contact with the victim.

“Upon arrival at the location, the team conducted field observations to take an evacuation step, because it was estimated that the foreigner was injured,” Darmada explained.

After observing, three personnel descended to the water tank by using a ladder. Due to suffered a broken bone, then the victim gets the first aid and lifts him up using a stretcher. “There is special treatment for victim who is suspected of having injuries, they cannot just take the victim to a stretcher,” Darmada explained.

At 13.51, the victim was finally successfully evacuated in safe condition. Furthermore, the victim was taken to the BIMC Nusa Dua Hospital using the KBS Pecatu Village ambulance.

He explained, according to the victim, before falling, he was chased by a dog. Due to the scene is far from residential areas and about 30 meters from the highway, no one is aware of this incident.

According to one local resident, Kadek John, before being discovered, there was a resident who had heard screaming for help. However, he said, probably because the location is far from the residential areas, the residents did not pay much attention. “Allegedly been 6 days trapped in the water tank,” said John.

The evacuation process involved the South Kuta Sector Police, the Pecatu Village Babinkamtibmas, as well as the local community. (MBP1)
