The Covid-19 Handling Task Force is again educating the public about the recovery period for Covid-19 patients. That even Covid-19 patients with severe symptoms can recover with proper handling. She also did not forget to remind the so called 3-M, which are wearing a mask, applying physical distancing and washing hands.
“At least 3 days there will be no fever and no respiratory problems. For cases of patients with severe symptoms, they can be moved to a non-isolation room before being discharged or hospitalized normally,” said Spokesperson for the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, dr. Reisa Broto Asmoro at a press conference at the Presidential Office broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat YouTube channel, Monday (September 28, 2020).
Meanwhile, patients with mild and moderate symptoms must be observed first and are no longer showing symptoms such as fever and respiratory problems.
“If after undergoing treatment at a health facility it hasn’t reached 14 days, then you still have to undergo independent isolation at home. With the condition that you still limit your activities and contact with other people,” continued Reisa.
Especially for asymptomatic patients (OTG), it can only be declared that they have completed their self-isolation for 10 – 14 days since being confirmed positive. This independent isolation must also be applied with discipline and must not be careless.
She also shared 7 tips for asymptomatic patients. First, always wear a mask during isolation. Wash the cloth mask yourself, if wearing disposable masks, immediately wrap it and throw it in the trash after use.
Second, if there are symptoms of illness such as fever, coughing and sneezing, stay in isolation room and do not travel outside the house or do not leave the isolation facility until the isolation period is completed.
Third, take advantage of telemedicine facilities or online consultation with health experts. “Notify medical officers about complaints, symptoms, and travel history and if there is contact with a person who is confirmed positive for Covid-19,” said Reisa.
Fourth, while at home or in isolation, the room must be separated from other family members. And always keep a distance of 1 – 2 meters. Not sharing utensils, toiletries and bedding with other family members. “Remember to wash your own food container,” suggested Reisa.
Fifth, check the condition of the body by measuring temperature, pulse and blood pressure. Set your time when going outdoor and bask in the sun every morning for 15-30 minutes.
Sixth, apply a clean and healthy lifestyle, consume a balanced nutritious diet, and exercise regularly, calm the mind and calm the soul. “Practice good ethics of coughing and sneezing, namely by covering the nose and mouth using the inner elbow,” Reisa continued.
Seventh, keep clean and healthy at home. Clean all surfaces with the right disinfectant. “If independent isolation cannot be done at home, the government provides isolation facilities. Contact the local health office or task force if you feel you need it,” Reisa completed her tips.
Therefore, she asked the public to believe that Covid-19 patients could recover. But remain vigilant during a pandemic, don’t underestimate this disease.
“Because prevention is much better, cheaper and more convenient than cure. Remember 3-M is the best prevention, let’s be compact! Solid unite against Covid-19, succeed 3-M, stop Covid-19 transmission,” concluded Reisa.
